TLDR The Chinese version of the PCOS quality of life questionnaire is reliable and valid for Chinese-speaking women with PCOS.
In 2015, a study involving 80 Taiwanese women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) led to the development of the Chinese version of the PCOS Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire (Chi-PCOSQ). The questionnaire was adapted from the original PCOSQ, with additional items addressing concerns specific to Chinese-speaking populations, such as acne, hair loss, and fear of diabetes. The Chi-PCOSQ demonstrated good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha values between 0.78 and 0.96) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficients between 0.73 and 0.86). It also showed construct validity through significant correlations with other HRQOL measures and clinical parameters. The study concluded that the Chi-PCOSQ is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing the HRQOL of Chinese-speaking women with PCOS, with the ability to differentiate between patients based on their HRQOL. The study also highlighted the need for further research to examine the psychometric properties of the Chi-PCOSQ and to assess its longitudinal validity, acknowledging limitations such as the small sample size and the need for validation in different regions and subcultures.
