The review highlights hormonal imbalances, including androgen excess and insulin resistance, as well as genetic and environmental factors contributing to PCOS. It identifies PCOS as a leading cause of infertility and associated with metabolic and psychological issues. Recent research emphasizes inflammation, the gut microbiome, and novel therapies in managing PCOS. The review calls for individualized, holistic treatment strategies and continued research to improve patient outcomes and management of PCOS.
