    This study investigated serum paraoxonase 1 (PON1) activity in 50 patients with moderate to severe acne vulgaris (AV) compared to 52 healthy controls. Results showed significantly lower PON1 activity in AV patients (36.15) than in controls (48.17), suggesting oxidative stress may play a role in AV's etiopathogenesis. Additionally, PON1 phenotypic polymorphism displayed a trimodal distribution, with the QQ phenotype more prevalent in AV patients (48%) compared to controls (5.8%). These findings highlight the potential involvement of oxidative stress in acne vulgaris.
