TLDR Oral minoxidil boosts hair and nail growth speed.
The study investigated the effects of oral minoxidil on hair and nail growth in 10 healthy adult men. Participants were treated with 1 mg/day and then 2.5 mg/day of minoxidil over 14 days. Results showed that minoxidil 2.5 mg significantly increased nail growth speed by 50.7%, while both 1 mg and 2.5 mg doses increased hair growth speed by 16.5% and 35.9%, respectively. The treatment also led to an increase in heart rate by 9.7% and 16.7% for the 1 mg and 2.5 mg doses, respectively, without affecting blood pressure. Overall, oral minoxidil was well tolerated and effectively enhanced hair and nail growth rates.
