Lack of Effect of Topical Minoxidil on Scalp Sebum Production

    Simpson Nb, Ejc Stewart
TLDR Minoxidil doesn't change scalp oil production.
A study conducted on 24 males treated with 2 ml of 2% minoxidil solution applied topically twice daily for 6 months found that minoxidil did not affect scalp sebum production, despite six patients experiencing positive hair growth. This indicated that minoxidil's mechanism for promoting hair growth was not related to changes in androgenic activity within the pilosebaceous unit.
