TLDR New non-invasive techniques can improve diagnosis and treatment of scalp and hair diseases.
The review highlights advancements in non-invasive detection techniques for scalp and hair diseases, focusing on tools like trichoscopy and digital image analysis enhanced by AI for accurate diagnosis and treatment evaluation. It emphasizes the role of scalp microbiota testing in understanding microbial contributions to scalp disorders. Key physiological indicators such as transepidermal water loss, skin hydration, and sebum levels are crucial for diagnosing conditions like dermatitis and psoriasis. Techniques like spectroscopy provide molecular insights into hair structure, aiding product development, while patch testing helps identify allergens in hair care products. Despite some limitations, these techniques collectively improve the precision and efficiency of diagnosing and managing scalp and hair diseases, with future research needed to standardize and expand their clinical application.
