TLDR Removing the p75 gene in mouse skin cells didn't affect their skin or hair growth.
The study successfully constructed a mouse model with a conditional knockout of the p75 neurotrophin receptor gene in epidermal cells using the Cre-loxP system. In this model, the expression of p75NTR was absent in the skin epidermis of complete knockout mice, while it was present in wild-type mice. Despite the knockout, there were no significant changes in the skin histomorphology or hair follicle structure between the knockout and wild-type mice, indicating that the absence of p75NTR did not affect skin or hair growth in these mice.
