TLDR Mannan oligosaccharides improve raccoon dogs' fur quality and overall health.
The study investigated the effects of mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) on fur quality, nutrient digestibility, serum immunity, antioxidant status, intestinal morphology, and gut microbiota in 24 male raccoon dogs. Adding 0.05% and 0.1% MOS to their diets improved crude protein digestibility, fur length, and serum immunoglobulin levels. Additionally, 0.05% MOS enhanced antioxidant enzyme activities and intestinal morphology. MOS also positively influenced gut microbiota by reducing harmful bacteria. The findings suggest that MOS can enhance fur quality and overall health in raccoon dogs, offering a potential alternative to antibiotics.
