TLDR Higher ischemia-modified albumin levels are linked to acne severity.
This study investigated the role of oxidative stress and inflammation in acne vulgaris (AV) by assessing the monocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) in 48 AV patients compared to 40 healthy controls. The results showed that serum IMA levels were significantly higher in AV patients, indicating a link between oxidative stress and AV pathogenesis, as well as its association with disease severity. However, MHR levels did not differ significantly between the two groups. The findings suggest that IMA could play a crucial role in the development and severity of acne vulgaris.
