TLDR Magnetized saline water hydrogel helps heal pressure ulcers quickly in elderly patients.
This study explored the use of a topical hydrogel containing 95% magnetized saline water (MSW) for treating stage 2-3 pressure ulcers in five elderly patients (ages 75-93) with severe comorbidities. The hydrogel was applied daily, and all patients showed significant wound healing within 3 to 10 days, evidenced by granulation tissue formation, improved vascularization, wound margin contraction, and epithelial advancement. No adverse reactions were reported. The results suggest that MSW-based hydrogel, which may enhance autophagy, could be a promising treatment for pressure ulcers in elderly patients, though further controlled studies are needed to confirm these findings.
