TLDR Intense pulsed-light therapy helps mice grow hair by activating a specific growth pathway.
The study demonstrated that low-fluence intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy stimulated hair growth in C57BL/6J mice by inducing the anagen phase of the hair cycle. The treated mice showed a quicker transition from the resting (telogen) phase to the growth (anagen) phase and experienced a longer anagen phase compared to the control group, with these differences being statistically significant (p < 0.05). Additionally, the IPL treatment increased the protein levels of WNT3A and β-catenin, which are part of the WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway known to be involved in hair growth regulation. These results suggest that IPL could be a promising method for promoting hair regrowth, potentially through the activation of the WNT/β-catenin pathway. However, the study was conducted on mice, and further research is necessary to determine if these findings are applicable to human hair regrowth treatments.
