TLDR The new minoxidil gel reduces runoff and improves eyebrow hair growth.
The study developed a novel minoxidil thermosensitive gel (16% PLX, 0.4% HPMC) aimed at reducing runoff and enhancing eyebrow hair growth. Compared to a control formulation (4% PLX, 0.7% HPMC), the test gel showed significantly less runoff (7.2 mm vs. 15.8 mm at 1 min), better skin penetration, and retention of minoxidil (p < 0.05). Both formulations were non-irritating. The findings suggest that the new gel formulation could be a more effective and user-friendly option for topical minoxidil application.

Minoxidil helps hair growth by increasing blood flow and prolonging the growth phase, but it doesn't address the root cause of hair loss, such as DHT sensitivity. Finasteride can help maintain some gains by blocking DHT, but stopping Minoxidil often leads to hair loss because the new hairs are dependent on it.
