TLDR Suryanamaskar yoga helps improve symptoms of PCOS in women.
This systematic review explores the impact of Suryanamaskar, a yoga practice, on women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition affecting 5-10% of Indian women of reproductive age. PCOS is characterized by hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, and metabolic issues, leading to symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, ovarian cysts, and infertility. The review highlights that lifestyle modifications, including yoga and meditation, are effective treatments for PCOS. Suryanamaskar, in particular, is noted for promoting weight loss, reducing stress, and improving blood circulation, which can alleviate PCOS symptoms by enhancing reproductive organ function and normalizing menstrual cycles. The practice addresses obesity and stress, the root causes of PCOS, thereby improving the quality of life for affected women.
