TLDR Dopaminergic therapy in Parkinson's disease patients is linked to increased hair loss.
This study investigated hair loss in Parkinson's disease patients undergoing dopaminergic therapy, involving 495 participants. After excluding those with other hair loss risk factors, 291 patients were analyzed. Among the total participants, 27.9% reported hair loss, with 53.1% showing objective hair loss upon examination. Notably, a higher intake of dopaminergic medications (levodopa-equivalent daily dose > 448 mg) was linked to increased hair loss complaints. The findings suggest a significant association between dopaminergic therapy and hair loss in Parkinson's disease patients.
