TLDR Dermal papilla cells and bulge stem cells can help reconstruct hair follicles.
This preliminary study investigated the potential for reconstructing hair follicles using cell masses composed of dermal papilla cells and bulge stem cells. Researchers isolated these cells from the vibrissa follicles of newborn rats and cultured them in a fibrin glue matrix, which was then combined with type I collagen and dermal papilla cells. The resulting compound cell mass was cultured under the renal capsule of SD rats. After 2 weeks, hair follicle-like structures were observed, suggesting that dermal papilla cells and bulge stem cells could be used for hair follicle reconstruction.
