TLDR Liposomal carriers can improve tissue regeneration by stabilizing and retaining growth factors.
This review discussed the development of liposomal carriers for delivering growth factors to improve tissue regeneration. Growth factors were known to enhance tissue regeneration but faced challenges such as poor stability, rapid clearance, and difficulty permeating biological barriers. Liposomal drug delivery systems offered a solution by improving the stability and retention of growth factors at defect sites. The review highlighted recent advancements in incorporating growth factors into liposomes and their potential regenerative effects on various tissues, as well as methodologies for sustaining their retention in defected tissues.
