TLDR Signaling pathways are crucial for hair growth in goats.
In this study, researchers sequenced and assembled the goat skin transcriptome during the anagen and telogen phases of the hair growth cycle using Illumina/Solexa technology, resulting in 53Mb of sequences and 57,040 high-quality contigs. They identified approximately 7000 differentially expressed genes between the two phases, with significant enrichment in signal transduction, extracellular structures, and cytoskeleton-related genes. These genes were crucial for cell communication during active hair growth. The findings highlighted the importance of signaling pathways in hair growth and provided valuable insights for improving Cashmere goat breeding.
