TLDR Finasteride and flutamide can effectively treat hirsutism, with abdominal hairs showing the most sensitivity to the treatment.
In a study conducted 25 years ago, 80 hirsute patients, 44 with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and 36 with Idiopathic Hirsutism (IH), were treated with two antiandrogen drugs, finasteride and flutamide, to evaluate their efficacy. The patients were randomly assigned to receive either finasteride (5 mg/daily) or flutamide (250 mg twice daily) for 6 consecutive months. Both finasteride and flutamide significantly reduced the Ferriman Gallway score (a measure of hirsutism) and hair diameter, indicating their effectiveness in treating hirsutism. The study also found that abdominal hairs were more sensitive to the therapy.

Some users warn against using certain treatments like cyproterone acetate, bicalutamide, and spironolactone due to their strong anti-androgen effects and potential impact on masculinity.
