TLDR CD90 is present on specific cells in dog hair follicles.
The study investigated the presence of mesenchymal stem cell marker CD90 on dermal sheath (DS) cells of anagen hair follicles in dogs. The researchers conducted morphological, immunohistochemical, and immunocytochemical analyses and found that CD90+ cells were predominantly located in the lower part of the anagen hair follicle. These cells exhibited a fibroblast-like morphology, being flat and elongated, and were embedded among collagen fibers, forming a continuous sleeve around the hair follicle. The CD90 protein was localized at the cytoplasmic membrane level of these cells.
