TLDR Exosomes show promise for skin treatments but need more research and regulation in India.
Exosomes, nanosized vesicles involved in key skin processes, show potential in regenerative and aesthetic dermatology, particularly for pigmentary disorders, acne scarring, hair disorders, wound healing, and inflammatory dermatoses. Despite promising preclinical studies and early clinical reports suggesting benefits in pigmentation, scar modulation, hair loss, and tissue repair, the clinical adoption in India is challenged by small, uncontrolled studies, lack of standardization, and insufficient safety data, especially for skin-of-color populations. The use of exosomes should be considered investigational, requiring caution, transparency, and ethical safeguards until more robust evidence and regulatory clarity are established.
