TLDR DHT deficiency may disrupt rat epididymis function by affecting estrogen receptors.
The study investigated the impact of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) deficiency on estrogen receptor (ER) expression in the epididymis of male Wistar rats, using finasteride to inhibit 5alpha-reductase type 2. Conducted on 10 rats, divided into control and study groups, the research found that DHT deficiency altered the distribution and decreased the expression of ERalpha and ERbeta in epididymal cells, both in vivo and in vitro. These changes suggest that DHT deficiency may destabilize epididymal function.
