Epidermal stem cells (EpdSCs) play a crucial role in the wound healing process of the skin due to their ability to self-renew and differentiate. This review highlights the dynamic interactions between EpdSCs and the skin microenvironment, which are vital for effective re-epithelialization and restoration of the skin barrier. The interplay involves various components such as the extracellular matrix, fibroblasts, vasculature, endothelial cells, and immune cells, all contributing to tissue repair.
