TLDR The comprehensive treatment with biomimetic peptide lotion was effective for hair loss.
In 2016, Kubanov A.A., Galljamova J.A., and Selezneva O.A. conducted a study involving 45 patients with telogen hair loss and androgenetic alopecia. The patients were split into two groups: one received a combination of pharmaceutical treatment (homeopathic medicine, a L-cysteine + B vitamins preparation) and local therapy (biomimetic peptides-based lotion on the scalp), while the other group received the same pharmaceutical treatment but without the biomimetic peptide lotion. Based on computer-assisted hair and scalp diagnostics, the results showed that the comprehensive treatment, including the biomimetic peptide lotion, was effective in treating alopecia.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.

A 22-year-old male experiencing hair loss suspects androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and possibly telogen effluvium (TE), with a noted improvement in scalp itch after adopting a gluten-free diet. He is advised to consider treatments like finasteride or minoxidil and to check iron and ferritin levels.
