Comparative Efficacy of Topical Tacrolimus 0.1% and Clobetasol Propionate 0.05% in the Treatment of Alopecia Areata

    In a study comparing the efficacy of topical tacrolimus 0.1% and clobetasol propionate 0.05% for treating alopecia areata, 70 patients aged 20 to 50 were treated over 3 months. Group A used clobetasol propionate and Group B used tacrolimus. Results showed that 74.3% of patients in Group A experienced excellent hair re-growth, compared to 40% in Group B, with a significant p-value of 0.028. The study concluded that clobetasol propionate 0.05% is more effective for stimulating hair re-growth in alopecia areata patients.
