TLDR PRP significantly improves hair density and satisfaction in hair restoration.
This study evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) augmentation in improving hair density in patients undergoing follicular unit extraction (FUE) for androgenetic alopecia. Conducted on 50 participants, the study divided them into two groups: FUE with PRP and FUE alone. Results showed that the PRP group experienced a 25% greater improvement in hair density at 6 months compared to the FUE-only group, with statistically significant results (P < 0.05). Additionally, the PRP group reported higher patient satisfaction scores. The study concludes that PRP significantly enhances hair density outcomes and is a promising adjunct therapy for hair restoration, with minimal adverse effects. Future studies with larger sample sizes and standardized PRP protocols are recommended.
