TLDR 2.5 mg/day finasteride effectively treats female pattern hair loss.

A retrospective study of 544 female pattern hair loss (FPHL) patients evaluated the clinical efficacy of 2.5 mg/day finasteride. Among the 330 patients followed for more than 3 months, 85.15% showed slight improvement and 14.85% showed great improvement based on global photographs. The study found significant clinical improvement in patients with grade I and II hair loss, with better responses in those with a younger age of onset and longer treatment duration. The study concluded that 2.5 mg/day finasteride was effective for treating FPHL.

Capronium Chloride and Trichoxidil are suggested as better alternatives to Minoxidil for hair growth without heart side effects. The Japanese Dermatological Association recommends topical Minoxidil over Capronium Chloride.
