Prospective Non-Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial on the Efficacy of Finasteride and 3% Minoxidil for the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia in Chinese Men

    The study evaluated the efficacy of finasteride and 3% minoxidil Co. for treating androgenetic alopecia in 107 Chinese men. Group Ⅰ, with 69 patients, received oral finasteride, while Group Ⅱ, with 38 patients, used topical 3% minoxidil Co. After 3 months, the response rates were 53.62% for finasteride and 44.74% for minoxidil. After 6 months, finasteride showed a significantly higher response rate of 75.36% compared to 57.89% for minoxidil. The study concluded that finasteride was more effective than 3% minoxidil Co. in treating androgenetic alopecia in Chinese men.
