TLDR Effervescent cleansing tablets with Asiatic acid were successfully developed, showing good stability and cleansing effectiveness.
The study successfully developed effervescent cleansing tablets containing Asiatic-Acid-Loaded Solid Lipid Microparticles (AASLMs) using direct compression techniques. These tablets, designed to dissolve in water and release active ingredients, demonstrated significant drug entrapment efficiency (92.04%) and effective cleansing efficacy, particularly in formulations F2 and F3. The optimal acid-to-base ratio for effervescence was 1:3, and higher SLS concentrations improved drug dissolution, with over 50% of asiatic acid released within 30 minutes. Stability studies showed that the tablets remained stable at 4 ± 2 °C and 25 ± 2 °C over 3 months, but higher temperatures led to decreased asiatic acid content and increased friability. The study highlights the importance of appropriate storage conditions and packaging to maintain tablet stability and quality.
