TLDR Shampoos with sodium lauroyl methylaminopropionate improve hair lubrication and reduce irritation.
This study investigates the coacervate formation and lubrication properties of hair shampoos formulated with amino acid surfactants, specifically focusing on sodium lauroyl methylaminopropionate. The results show that sodium lauroyl methylaminopropionate is more effective in forming coacervates compared to other common amino acid surfactants like sodium lauroyl aspartate and sodium methyl lauroyl taurate. Additionally, it reduces the kinetic friction coefficient on wet hair surfaces, enhancing lubrication. These findings suggest that shampoos containing sodium lauroyl methylaminopropionate can provide low irritation and excellent lubrication performance, making them beneficial for hair care formulations.
