TLDR Polynucleotides might work well in esthetic medicine, but more research is needed.
This systematic review assessed the effectiveness and safety of polynucleotide-based treatments in esthetic medicine, focusing on skin rejuvenation and hair restoration. It included 9 studies with 219 patients, mostly female and Korean. Polynucleotide treatments, derived from salmon or trout DNA, showed promise in improving skin elasticity and hair density, with mild side effects like edema and erythema. However, the studies varied in quality and design, limiting the ability to perform a meta-analysis. Overall, polynucleotide treatments appear safe and effective, but further high-quality research is needed to confirm these findings and establish standardized protocols.
