TLDR PDRN from salmon may slow skin aging by improving skin quality and reducing inflammation.
Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN), derived from the DNA fragments of salmon sperm cells, shows potential as an anti-aging agent by improving skin quality and promoting regeneration. It works by activating A2A receptors, which inhibit the NF-kB and MAPK signaling pathways, reducing proinflammatory cytokines and enhancing anti-inflammatory cytokines. PDRN also prevents collagen degradation by inhibiting MMP-1 and elastase expression and reduces melanin synthesis by suppressing melanogenic gene expression and tyrosinase activity. These actions collectively contribute to slowing down the skin aging process.
