TLDR The mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium gel improved burn healing and hair growth in rats better than other treatments.
This study investigated the effects of mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium (CM) gel on the healing of third-degree burns in rats. Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley rats with dorsal burn wounds were divided into four groups: one treated with CM gel, one with placebo gel, one with silver sulfadiazine (SSD) cream, and one without treatment, over a 21-day period. The study assessed wound healing through indicators such as wound diameter, scab and blister formation, and hair growth. Post-treatment analysis of the skin involved histological staining to evaluate neutrophil and mononuclear cell infiltration, neovascularization, collagen area, and re-epithelization ratio. The results showed that the CM gel group experienced better wound healing and faster hair growth compared to the other groups.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
