TLDR Butin is effective in treating vitiligo in mice.
The study investigated the effects of butin, a component of Vernonia anthelmintica, on hydroquinone-induced vitiligo in mice. Mice were divided into six groups, including control, model, 8-MOP, and three butin dosage groups. Results showed that butin increased melanin-containing hair follicles, basal layer melanocytes, and melanin-containing epidermal cells, while also enhancing the expression of tyrosinase (TYR) and tyrosinase-related protein-1 (TRP-1). Additionally, butin decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) and cholinesterase (CHE) activity. These findings supported the use of butin for vitiligo treatment, suggesting its mechanisms involve boosting TYR and TRP-1 expression and reducing MDA and CHE activity.

Some people find topical minoxidil effective for hair loss, but oral minoxidil doesn't work for them, possibly due to absorption issues. Others have had better results with oral minoxidil, suggesting individual responses vary.

The user successfully treated their hair loss using 1ml of minoxidil twice daily and dermarolling with a 1.5mm dermaroller once a week. They experienced noticeable results only after combining minoxidil with dermarolling, and they have not used finasteride.

The conversation discusses why DHT (dihydrotestosterone) negatively affects scalp hair but promotes growth elsewhere on the body. Various opinions include genetic predispositions, differences in hair follicle reactions to DHT, and the potential role of Omega-3 in reducing inflammation and promoting hair health.
