Effect of a nutritional supplement on hair loss in women
January 2015
in “Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology”
TLDR The nutritional supplement improved hair density and reduced hair loss in women with female pattern hair loss.
In a study involving 120 women with female pattern hair loss (FPHL), a 6-month treatment with a nutritional supplement containing omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, lycopene, vitamin C, and vitamin E resulted in significant improvements in hair density, a decrease in the percentage of telogen hair, and an increase in the proportion of nonvellus anagen hair. The supplemented group also reported a reduction in hair loss and improvements in hair diameter and density. A high satisfaction rate of 92.4% was observed among the subjects, with no serious adverse events. The study concluded that this nutritional supplement is an effective alternative treatment for FPHL, enhancing scalp coverage and hair condition.
