TLDR Patients with androgenetic alopecia often have abnormal lipid levels, so they should be screened and advised on lifestyle changes to prevent heart issues.
This study investigated the prevalence of dyslipidemia in 90 male and female patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and found significant elevations in triglycerides, LDL levels, and TC/HDL ratios, along with low HDL levels across all age groups. Severe AGA was associated with more pronounced lipid abnormalities, and acanthosis nigricans was more common in patients with elevated lipid levels. The findings suggest that clinicians should screen for and manage hyperlipidemia in AGA patients, particularly males, to prevent cardiovascular complications, and advise on lifestyle changes to mitigate these risks.
