in “Toxicology and Environmental Health Sciences”
TLDR The shampoo with salicylic acid, panthenol, and niacinamide is effective and safe for preventing hair loss in people with alopecia.
In a double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical study involving 42 alopecia patients over 24 weeks, a hair loss prevention shampoo containing salicylic acid (0.2%), panthenol (0.2%), and niacinamide (0.1%) was found to be effective and safe. The treatment group showed a significant 17.76% increase in the number of hairs on the crown compared to the placebo group (p < 0.05). Other measures such as visual evaluation of hair loss symptoms, the crown, the line of forelock, and hair thickness also showed significantly greater increases in the treatment group (p < 0.05). No abnormal symptoms were observed, indicating the shampoo's safety. The study concludes that this shampoo can help prevent hair loss in alopecia patients.
