TLDR HSPC016 gene is important for hair growth.
The study identified differentially expressed genes in dermal papilla cells (DPCs) with aggregative behavior, which are crucial for hair follicle cycling. Using suppression subtractive hybridization, researchers isolated mRNA from DPCs with and without aggregative behavior, leading to the identification of five differentially expressed genes, including capping protein, paladin, and vascular endothelial growth factor. Notably, the gene HSPC016, originally cloned from CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, was found to be differentially expressed in DPCs with aggregative behavior. The full-length cDNA of HSPC016 was 366 bp, and it was suggested to have a role in transcriptional regulation.
