TLDR DHEA therapy improves pubic hair growth and psychological well-being in girls with central adrenal insufficiency.
The study investigated the effects of oral dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) on pubic hair growth and psychological well-being in adolescent girls and young women with central adrenal insufficiency. It was a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled Phase III trial. The results indicated that DHEA therapy led to significant improvements in pubic hair growth compared to the placebo group. Additionally, participants receiving DHEA reported enhanced psychological well-being. The study provided evidence supporting the use of DHEA for addressing both physical and psychological symptoms associated with central adrenal insufficiency in this population.
