TLDR Fluridil promotes hair growth safely and effectively for androgenetic alopecia.
The paper discusses the development of fluridil, a topical suppressor of the androgen receptor for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). Fluridil was found to be effective in promoting hair growth in a 12-month clinical study of male AGA patients, with no adverse side effects reported. The compound was designed to achieve rapid degradation into innocuous components, no systemic absorption from the scalp, and topical delivery to the dermal hair papilla. Fluridil was shown to be well-tolerated and safe in mice, with little potential for human hazard at the intended topical dose. The study suggests that fluridil may be a promising treatment for AGA.
