TLDR A reliable severity score for female pattern hair loss was developed and validated.
The study developed and validated a dermoscopic severity score for female pattern hair loss (FPHL) by conducting a cross-sectional study with 76 women with FPHL and 12 controls. The research identified significant variables such as total terminal hairs, total miniaturized hairs, and various scalp pigmentation signs. The final model showed a high correlation (rho = 0.89) with clinical assessments, indicating that the severity score is both objective and reliable. This score can be used as an additional outcome measure in therapeutic trials for FPHL.
