TLDR Daclizumab may cause psoriasis-like skin problems in multiple sclerosis patients.
A 56-year-old man being treated with daclizumab for multiple sclerosis developed several skin conditions, including an intensely pruritic desquamating rash, inferior blepharitis, nail pitting, distal onycholysis, chronic perionixis, bilateral plantar hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, and seborrheic-like dermatitis. Despite having a history of alopecia and cutaneous problems, the recent facial rash prompted dermatological treatment. Skin biopsy suggested psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis, but no parakeratosis was observed. Treatment with moisturizers, steroids, and fluconazole led to slight improvement. The patient's daclizumab therapy was continued, and he was managed with an interdisciplinary approach. The authors noted that psoriasis-like skin lesions may occur as adverse effects of daclizumab treatment in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
