TLDR People in South Korea rely on the internet and social media for hair loss treatment information, with choices influenced by online reviews and word of mouth.
The study surveyed 2,579 participants in South Korea to understand public perceptions and treatment behaviors related to androgenic alopecia, a common form of hair loss. It found that people primarily use internet communities and social media for information on hair loss treatments. The choice of treatment providers is mainly influenced by online reviews and word of mouth. Common treatments include over-the-counter products, clinic-based therapies, and oral medications, with age and gender significantly affecting treatment patterns and perceptions. The study emphasizes the role of digital platforms in shaping patient behavior and the need for evidence-based education to guide treatment decisions.
