Evaluation of Cacumen Platycladi Extract for Hair Loss Prevention: Mechanisms, Efficacy, and Clinical Application

The study evaluated the efficacy of Cacumen Platycladi extract (CPE) in preventing hair loss, highlighting its potential as a natural treatment. CPE, derived from Platycladus orientalis leaves, was shown to inhibit 5α-reductase activity, enhance antioxidant capacity in human dermal papilla cells, and activate the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, promoting VEGF and COL17 expression. A 12-week clinical trial demonstrated that CPE significantly reduced hair loss and increased hair density compared to a placebo, with no adverse effects, supporting its use as a safe and effective hair loss prevention alternative.
