TLDR Local hairline measurements are important for better surgical results and early disease detection in Colombian women.
The study aimed to determine the average distance of frontal hairline structures in Colombian women, as no local data existed. Conducted on healthy women over 18 at a clinic in Bucaramanga, Colombia, the study found an average age of 34.3 years, with skin phototype III being most common (42.3%). The widow's peak was present in 47.6% of participants, with an average height of 9.7 mm and width of 14.2 mm. Results significantly differed from those in the U.S. and Spain, likely due to ethnic differences and study design. The study concluded that local measurements should be used in surgical reconstruction to achieve results more suited to the Colombian population and to help identify early-stage diseases involving hairline recession. It recommended larger prospective studies to explore variations within the population.
