TLDR Most white Spanish women have a widow's peak, and their hairline measurements could help in hair restoration surgery.
The study analyzed the frontal hairline implantation patterns in 103 healthy premenopausal white Spanish women with a mean age of 29.7 years. It found that 94.17% had a widow's peak, with average dimensions of 1.01 cm in height and 2.13 cm in width. Hormone levels were mostly normal, but the mean level of 17-hydroxyprogesterone was elevated at 1.39 ng/mL, and the average PSA level was 0.04 ng/mL, indicating androgenic activity. The research concluded that the hairline measurements of these women differ from those reported in American women and can serve as a standard for surgical hairline reconstruction in various alopecias. The study highlighted the need for further research across different demographics to understand the impact of hormonal changes on hairline patterns, sebum production, and skin hydration. It also noted a potential bias as 98% of participants were medical professionals, which might affect stress and hormone levels.
