TLDR Ashwagandha-derived nanoparticles can promote human hair growth.
The study investigated the potential of Ashwagandha-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (Ash-ELN) to promote hair growth using microdissected human hair follicles (HFs) ex vivo. The results showed a significant increase in the number of anagen (growth phase) HFs and hair shaft production after treatment with Ash-ELN. RNA sequencing revealed up-regulation of anagen-promoting mRNAs (WNT10B, RSPO1, VEGFD) and down-regulation of catagen inducers (BMP4, DKK1, TGFB1) in at least 2 out of 3 donors. These findings suggest that Ash-ELN can modulate hair growth by influencing pathways involved in the anagen/catagen transition, indicating their potential as an alternative to human-derived exosomes for hair growth therapies.

User asks if Ashwagandha causes hair loss while using Finasteride and Minoxidil. Replies suggest Ashwagandha may increase shedding, but raising testosterone within normal levels likely won't significantly affect hair loss.

A person treated their diffuse alopecia with oral minoxidil (10mg daily), oral finasteride (reduced to 0.25mg daily due to side effects), castor oil, vitamins, and ashwagandha, and plans a hair transplant in Turkey. They stopped using topical minoxidil, have seen improved hair density, but are still experiencing hair loss.
