TLDR Ashwagandha seed nanovesicles may help regenerate hair and skin cells.
The study investigates the regenerative potential of plant exosome-like nanovesicles derived from Ashwagandha seeds (Ash-PELNs) as an alternative to human-derived platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and exosome treatments for hair and skin conditions. In vitro tests showed that Ash-PELNs significantly increased the proliferation of human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (hHFDPCs) by 11.9%, enhanced migration of human endothelial cells (HUVEC) and dermal fibroblasts (hDF) by 82.8% and 67.0% respectively, and promoted HUVEC tubulogenesis by 54.9%. Additionally, Ash-PELNs elevated hDF VEGF-A expression by 39.9% and increased hHFDPC secreted growth factors such as LIF, PLGF-1, FGF-2, and VEGF-A. These findings suggest that Ash-PELNs could be a viable plant-derived topical treatment for hair, scalp, and skin regeneration.

A person treated their diffuse alopecia with oral minoxidil (10mg daily), oral finasteride (reduced to 0.25mg daily due to side effects), castor oil, vitamins, and ashwagandha, and plans a hair transplant in Turkey. They stopped using topical minoxidil, have seen improved hair density, but are still experiencing hair loss.
