    Polypodium leucotomos has shown significant medicinal and therapeutic potential due to its antioxidant and photoprotective properties, making it a promising natural sunscreen for preventing skin diseases caused by UV radiation. This review, based on 79 publications, highlights its use in complementary and alternative therapies in various pharmaceutical forms. The phytochemical constituents in its leaves and rhizomes are key to its effectiveness. However, further research is needed to enhance its application in cosmetic formulations and to develop stable pharmaceutical products tailored to different skin phototypes.
