This review, based on 79 publications, highlights its use in complementary and alternative therapies in various pharmaceutical forms. The phytochemical constituents in its leaves and rhizomes are key to its effectiveness. However, further research is needed to enhance its application in cosmetic formulations and to develop stable pharmaceutical products tailored to different skin phototypes.
