Anti-Inflammatory And Antifungal Activities Of Wood Essential Oil From Juniperus Morrisonicola Hayata

The study analyzes the wood essential oil from Juniperus morrisonicola (Jm-EO), which is rich in sesquiterpenoids like cedrol, widdrol, and thujopsene. Jm-EO shows significant anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting nitric oxide production in macrophages, with widdrol being the most potent component. It also exhibits dose-dependent cytotoxicity against HepG2 cancer cells and strong antifungal activity, particularly against Laetiporus sulphureus. These findings suggest Jm-EO's potential applications in developing anti-inflammatory drugs and as an eco-friendly wood preservative, warranting further research into its active compounds.
