TLDR Seablite root extract may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.
The study explores the use of Suaeda maritima root extract (SMRE) for preventing hair loss and promoting hair care. SMRE is rich in saponins, phenolics, flavonoids, and tannins, which provide antioxidant benefits. It effectively inhibits albumin degradation and nitric oxide release, suggesting anti-inflammatory properties, although it lacks antifungal activity. Importantly, SMRE inhibits 5a-reductase, an enzyme linked to hair loss, with lower cytotoxicity than dutasteride. These results indicate that SMRE could be a valuable component in hair care products due to its potential to promote hair growth.
